MIAMI (AP) - Secondhand smoke can cause cancer, but a former flight attendant did not contract lung cancer from breathing secondhand smoke while she worked inside airplane cabins, a jury determined Tuesday. Gail Routh, 54, was exposed to thousands of hours of secondhand smoke over her 27-year career with Allegheny Airlines and US Airways, said Stuart Silver, the attorney representing Routh against Philip Morris USA, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Lorillard Tobacco and Brown & Williams Tobacco Corp.

This is a woman who was healthy as could be when she started working in 1972, and after a 27-year career she's not in the best of health. Welcome to planet Earth, honey.

Thank you very much, thank you very much!
It isn't every day, good fortune comes me way
I never thought the future would be fun for me!
And if I had a bugle, I would blow it to add a sort
o' how's your father's touch.
But since I left me bugle at home, I simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much! Thank you very, very, very much!

The state court jury did find that exposure to secondhand smoke may cause lung cancer,

Sigh....

Secondhand smoke can cause cancer, but

That has never been proven. The often sited studies have been shown to be bogus (often referring to each other as sources in an odd circular logic sort of way) and the studies that show no connection have been silenced.

"Medical evidence made it clear that Ms. Routh was genetically predisposed to contract the type of cancer from which she suffers," he said.

A jury that finally gets it. Will Ms. Routh now sue her ancestors for giving her faulty genes?

You know, not having ever smoked, yet with all these people, these types of people, keeling over from a wiff of smoke, why I almost regret not doing my part.

I think they are on the way. They use the more correct terminology "may" and didn't do the arbitrary award of cash just to spite tobacco.

You are right, the work is not complete.

Your provenance is better than most.

Got a light?

I'm hoping that diminishing eyesight and a large domestic vehicle will herald a fruitful middle age.( So many wrist flapping, anorexic joggers....) I will, as always, endeavor to do my part.

I am a smoker that remembers flying before the ban. I didn't smoke on airplanes even then. One hundred-plus people with lit cigarettes in a tin tube at thirty thousand feet never seemed like good policy to me.

When the war on the smokers didn't work, the anti's started their war on the smokers through ANTI smokers. Trying to force the general non-smoking public to believe that smokers are killing them just by being around second hand smoke.

There are countless studies that show the truth. Second Hand Smoke is NOT the killer the anti's want the general public to believe!

Second Hand Smoke Frauds

If they are right, why aren't they working to ban tobacco and not just the smoker?!

"To say there was some other cause is quite surprising," Silver said. "This is a woman who was healthy as could be when she started working in 1972, a lifetime nonsmoker who had no medical problems. Everything points to secondhand smoke as the cause.

Betcha Silver wanted to be one of the anti-tobacco litigators also.......sounds like he is blowing smoke so to speak....

I remember my first transcontinental flight like it was yesterday. 1962, first class, TWA, Boston to LA.

My college room mate and I sat at a small round table and played gin for six hours, chain smoking unfiltered Camels and drinking bourbon.

Heaven...
